St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
St. Philomena College, Puttur is affiliated to Mangalore University and it is managed by the Catholic Board of Education, Mangalore
‘Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall’ has been built in the memory of the Silver Jubilee Year of St. Philomena College. It has spacious stage with two adjacent Green rooms and a dining hall. The hall can accommodate maximum 1000 people. The hall contains a balcony and sound enhancement system of good quality. This hall is useful for various co curricular and extracurricular activities of the college.
