St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.

    II SEMESTER: Plant morphology and taxonomy , plant biochemistry, plant breeding,

    III SEMESTER: Seed pathology, plant pathology, biotechnology, ecology and environment.

    IV SEMESTER: Seed pathology , plant pathology, biotechnology, biodiversity and plant conservation.

    Techniques standardized:

    Cell and tissues culture, chromatographic techniques, cytogenetic techniques, gel electrophoresis, isolation of nucleic acids, flame photometry, water activity determination in seeds.

    Courses Taught: BSc.

    Area of Expertise: Plant taxonomy, Environment biology, cell biology, genetics, cryptogamy, Physiology, microbiology, Biotechnology.

    Awards and Achievements:

    JRF/NET qualified for lectureship and research in the year 2018
