St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

The Postgraduate Department of Mathematics at St Philomena College (Autonomous) organized an Academic Exchange and Lecture Series under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Exchange Program. The event, held in the College Conference Room, manifested another milestone in academic collaboration and innovation between two reputed institutions.
Presiding over the event was Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of St Philomena College, whose reflections highlighted the insightful interconnections between basic sciences and philosophy. He elaborated on the timeless relevance of foundational sciences, encouraging an interdisciplinary approach to research and learning. Dr Jagadeesha B., Head of the Department of Mathematics at St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Addressing the audience, he shed light on the foundational importance of mathematics and sciences, outlining impactful initiatives carried out under the MoU framework. His lecture for MSc students explored the potential research areas in Rough Set Theory and Ring Theory, sparking curiosity and academic dialogue among the participants.
Prof. Ganesh Bhat K., Coordinator of the PG Department, provided an insightful introduction, emphasizing the role of the MoU and relating the accomplishments achieved through this collaboration. A ceremonial renewal of the MoU between the two institutions was a best bit of the program.
Dr Norbert Mascarenhas, Registrar(Academics), Mr Vinayachandra, Registrar (Evaluation), Heads of Departments, Coordinators, and faculty members from various disciplines were gracefully present on the occasion.
