St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.
The Quality Assurance Framework of the institution has been developed to assure academic standards and enhance the quality of education. It underlines the institution’s commitment to excellence and improvement.

St Philomena College Puttur has been buzzing with farewell programs for all the streams organized by the loving junior students of the college. Every stream viz. B.C.A., B.Com., B.B.A., B.A., B.Sc., conducted the bidding adieu under directions of the Principal Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro. Rev. Fr Stany Pinto, Campus Director, Vice Principals and Deans of the respective disciplines guided the students to come up with the healthy tradition befitting the decorum of the college which has more than six decades of rich legacy in forming the personalities useful to the society. Farewell signifies a warm goodbye to the friends with whom they grew with celebrating good times together and wishing all good for the future as they step into new realms of life.
Dean of Science and Vice Principal Prof. Ganesh Bhat, Dr AP Radhakrishna vice principal and IQAC Coordinator, Prof. Subair, Dean of Arts Faculty, Prof. Premalatha K., Dean of Department of Commerce, Prof. Vinayachandra, Dean of B.C.A.Department, Dr Radhakrishna Gowda, Dean of B.B.A.Department and the class teachers of the respective classes along with junior students conducted this mind-blowing and intensely expressive toodle-oo. Cultural activity and DJ after every formal program resonated in the SJM Hall of the college.
