St Philomena College(Autonomous) was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

Mrs.Shakuntala Shetty, former MLA of Puttur taluk said we should always take advantage of the opportunity and make use of it without discriminating the elders and younger, opportunities that we have today were not available in the past. She inaugurated a free computer training program for rural people organised under the support of computer science Post graduation studies and Research Center of St.Philomena College.
Rev. Dr. Antony Prakash Monteiro director of Post graduation studies and Research Center of St.Philomena College presented at the event and stated that “Computer knowledge is not limited to students ,parents as well need to study computer education.There is no age limit unless one wants to learn something”.

Mr.Govinda Prakash co-ordinator of computer science was presented at the forum. In the department of computer science at Post graduation Center of St.Philomena College co- ordinator Prof.Govinda Prakash and lecturers Soorya Narayana , Akshatha and Ramya were seated in the program.
Students of Msc Computer science Preethika and team rendered the prayer . Chaithra B greeted and Jijo Joseph thanked the gathering. Yashaswi compeered the program.
