St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.
The Quality Assurance Framework of the institution has been developed to assure academic standards and enhance the quality of education. It underlines the institution’s commitment to excellence and improvement.

Inauguration of the Science Forum activities and a guest lecture was organised at Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall, St Philomena College Puttur. The Science forum and its academic activities were inaugurated by Dr L. Krishna Prasad, Professor and HOD, Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, KVG Dental College Sullia. The President of inaugural function, Rev. Dr. Antony Prakash Monteiro in his speech gave a call to the students to develop a scientific temper and contribute something worthwhile to the world of Science. The Campus Director of the St Philomena College, Rev. Fr Stany Pinto extended his good wishes to the students. After the inauguration ceremony, in the guest lecture, Dr L. Krishna Prasad on Chemistry and Dentistry elaborated on the importance of maintaining oral health in an individual’s life.
Thanvi and the team invoked the blessings of God. The President of the Science Forum Ms Raksha Anchan welcomed the gathering. The Convener of Science Forum Dr P S Krishna Kumar introduced Dr L. Krishna Prasad to the audience. Vice President of the Forum Ms Prakruthi Ashok proposed the vote of thanks. Ms Soujanya MT compered the program. The Dean of Science and Vice Principal of the College Dr A P Radhakrishna was gracefully present on the dias and Secretary of Science Forum Sudhanva Shyam.S also was on the dias present in the dias. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the essay competition held on National Science Day on this occasion. Students of B.Sc. Stream participated in the programme.
