Inter-Collegiate Swimming Competition

In a remarkable display of aquatic prowess, St Philomena College Men’s Swimming Team bagged Runners’ Trophy at the Mangalore University Inter-Collegiate Swimming Competition held today at the St Aloysius Swimming Pool in Mangalore.

Shishil Gowda, a first-year BA student, was a standout performer, clinching four medals. He claimed silver in the 4x100 freestyle relay, 4x100 medley relay, and 4x200 freestyle relay events, and added a bronze in the 200m butterfly.

Anvesh Rai, a second-year B. Com student contributed to the team’s silver medals in the 4x100 freestyle relay, 4x100 medley relay, and 4x200 freestyle relay. Additionally, Tanvier Pinto, another second-year B. Com student secured silver medals in the same relay events. He also earned a bronze in the 400m freestyle and 200m freestyle.

Thrishul Gowda, a third-year BA student, was a dominant force in the pool, bagging an impressive seven medals. He played a crucial role in the silver medals for the 4x100 freestyle relay, 4x100 medley relay, and 4x200 freestyle relay. Thrishul showcased his individual talent by securing silver medals in the 1500m freestyle, 400m freestyle, and 200m freestyle, along with a bronze in the 100m freestyle and 100m breaststroke said Mr Elias Pinto, Physical Education Director of the College.

The outstanding achievements of these athletes were lauded by the college administration. Very Rev. Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, the College Correspondent, along with Principal Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro and Campus Director Rev. Fr Stany Pinto, congratulated the swimmers for their exceptional performance and expressed their best wishes for continued success in the future.
