St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

Two students from St Philomena College have been selected to represent Karnataka at the national-level athletics competition following their outstanding performances at the Karnataka State Inter-District Junior and Under-23 Athletics Meet. The event, organized by the Mysore District Athletics Association, was held at the Chamundi Vihar Sports Stadium, Mysore, from September 14 to 17.
Yashwin, a first-year B.Com student, clinched the gold medal in the Under-20 High Jump category, while Varsha, a second-year BCA student, secured a silver medal in the Hammer Throw. Both athletes have earned the opportunity to compete in the upcoming national meet, which will be held in Ranchi.
Other participants from the college include Prithvi (first-year B.Com) in Hammer Throw, Chaitrika (second-year B.Sc), and Keerthan (first-year BBA) in the 400-meter race.
Principal Rev Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro extended best wishes to the students as they prepare for the national competition.Physical Education Directors, Dr Elias Pinto and Mr Rajesh Mulya, admired the athletes for their hard work and dedication.
