St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

Department of Commerce, Centre for PG Studies and Research St Philomena College, Puttur organized one day workshop on ‘INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS’ in the PG Seminar Hall on 22nd July 2023. In the inauguration ceremony Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monterio, Principal of the college presided, Dr. Santhosh Prabhu Asst Prof., SDM Law College, Mangalore participated as resource person.
In the inaugural ceremony Principal addressed the students and wished them for the further session and congratulated M.Com. Department for organizing such a beneficial workshop. The resource person also gave a short introduction and awareness with regard to Intellectual Property Rights and wished the students a better future.
91 Students from I and II M.Com. actively participated in this workshop. Dr. Santhosh Prabhu defined the importance of Intellectual Property Rights. In the course of deliberations on the topic, he also shared many actual incidents and experiences which are connected to the topic. Lucid and realistic examples made the students stay curious. Dr Santhosh Prabhu also gave some essential information to the students like how the world is getting changed digitally, how the Artificial intelligence influencing the people and conducting trade and the ways for surviving in the competitive market of today.
Prof. Ganesh Bhat, Vice principal, Yashvanth G Nayak, Coordinator of the Department and faculty members of M.com department Pruthvi K, Harshith R and Shravya N S were present. In this productive workshop Reena compered, Thejaswini welcomed , Suhasini introduced the resource person and Rashiya Rai proposed vote of thanks vote of thanks.
