St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.
The Quality Assurance Framework of the institution has been developed to assure academic standards and enhance the quality of education. It underlines the institution’s commitment to excellence and improvement.

Puttur: Library and Information Centre and Internal Quality Assurance Cell of St Philomena College Puttur celebrated ‘National Librarians’ Day in the Spandana Seminar Hall of the College.
Rev Fr Stany Pinto, the Campus Director and Assistant Professor of English, was the guest of honor. “ If we acquire the necessary knowledge, we can confidently stand in front of anyone and speak. The library is a temple of learning. It is not just a mere collection of books, but much more than that, said Fr Stany Pinto, the Campus Director. He was giving the special lecture as the Coordinator
Prof. Udaya K, the voice Principal rendered in his presidential remarks, said, “Books provide authentic knowledge. The Internet cannot replace books, it can be a good supplement of knowledge”.
On this occasion, Channabasamma D K of Final BSc was awarded as the best Library User Award for 2022. Mr. Prashanth Rai, Dept of BBA, rendered the prayer song, Mr. Abdul Rahman G, the college librarian, welcomed the guests, and Mr. Manohar S G, Librarian of PG center, proposed a vote of thanks. The program was compered by Mrs Bharathi S Rai, HoD, English.
