St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.
The Quality Assurance Framework of the institution has been developed to assure academic standards and enhance the quality of education. It underlines the institution’s commitment to excellence and improvement.

In a remarkable commemoration of National Unity Day, Student Council of St Philomena College came together to celebrate the spirit of unity, diversity, and the indomitable legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on31 October 2023. The program began with a floral tribute to the portrait of Sardar Patel added a touch of grace to the proceedings. The event culminated with profound presidential remarks by the principal of the college Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of the College. The principal’s address was nothing short of inspiring, as he emphasized the significance of unity in diversity, a core principle that has always been at the heart identity of India. His words resonated with the audience as he took them on a journey through history, recalling Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s pivotal contribution to unifying the princely states into the Indian Union. Further he eloquently highlighted Patel’s unwavering dedication and statesmanship, visionary leadership which continues to inspire generations, exemplifying the values of unity, diversity, and patriotism that have become synonymous with India’s identity. It is our collective responsibility to honor their legacy and uphold the ideals they stood for, as they have paved the way for the prosperous, diverse, and unified India we cherish today, he said.
