St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

“In today’s world, fostering a value-based environment is paramount. Our activities should reflect these values,” emphasized Dr Sheshappa K., NSS Programme Coordinator of Mangalore University, as he addressed the gathering at ‘Philo Sevamrutha -2024’, the Annual NSS Fest organized by the NSS units of St Philomena Autonomous College.
Dr Sheshappa, serving as the Chief Guest, lauded the focus of the event on instilling values through service-oriented initiatives.
Presiding over the event, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of the College, highlighted the importance of collective efforts in building a value-driven society. “Through service, we must brighten society with the light of awareness,” he said, inspiring the participants to unite for meaningful societal contributions.
The fest featured a variety of cultural competitions, with prizes distributed to the winning students, celebrating their enthusiasm and creativity.
Vice-Principal Vijay Kumar Moleyar, NSS Officers Dr K Chandrashekar, and Mrs Pushpa N. graced the dais with their presence.
