St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.
The Quality Assurance Framework of the institution has been developed to assure academic standards and enhance the quality of education. It underlines the institution’s commitment to excellence and improvement.

The Pinnacle IT Club of St Philomena College kicked off its activities for the academic year 2024-25 with an inauguration at the Silver Jubilee Hall.
Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of the College, presided over the event and reflected on the technological revolution, noting how “decades ago, information search was a tedious task that required hours in libraries. Today, technology places knowledge at our fingertips.” He encouraged students to step out of their comfort zones and fully engage with the offerings of the Club, urging them to use technology for the greater good and succeed in their careers.
Madhuranath R., Marketing Head of Slang Lab, Bangalore, inaugurated the event and emphasized the critical role of technology in today’s fast-paced world. “The IT Club provides a platform for students passionate about technology, whether in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, software development, or IT. The club’s activities like workshops, seminars, competitions, and industry collaborations will equip students with essential skills for the digital age and help them sail across today’s competitive job market.”
Guest of honor Sachin S.R., an IT consultant from Bangalore, echoed the potential of youth, remarking, “There is an irrepressible passion in students. With proper guidance and cooperation from like-minded peers, they can achieve wonders.”
The event commenced with a prayer led by Pooja and her team. IT Club President Lenin welcomed the gathering, while Vice President Havyas introduced the dignitaries. Vinayachandra, Dean and Head of the Department of Computer Science, offered an overview of the initiatives of the department and the Club. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Secretary Ashwin, and Vice President Disha Pearl Mascarenes compered the program. Geetapoornima, IT Club Coordinator, graced the stage.
