St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

Puttur December 5: Youth Red Cross Society of St Philomena college, Puttur, observed International Volunteer day in the spandana Seminar Hall of the College. It celebrates the theme of solidarity through volunteering. This is the day specified to inspire the youth to volunteer for better tomorrow. Dinakar Anchan Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce participated as resource person. He spoke with the examples of noble personalities like Mother Teresa and appealed the students think and act towards nation building goals and always be ready for selfless service.
Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of the College presided over the program. In his presidential remarks he called for positive change in the society with the cooperation of the students. A determined mind set can always bring about peace and sustainable human development by just being normal and natural, he said.
The program began with prayer by Pritam and team. Student representative Farvez Akhtar welcomed. Kriti proposed vote of thanks. Nutana compered the program.
