St Philomena College(Autonomous) was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

3/19 Karnataka Bn NCC, St Philomena College organized a Skill Development Training Program on “Yoga” in online mode on 17-06-2021&19-06-2021.
Prof. Leo Noronha President of the program inaugurated the program and said that under COVID-19 lockdown, performing online yoga and meditation is a wise utilization of time for good health. This is the time when everyone needs stronger immunity to fight against coronavirus. The enhanced activeness through bending and twisting and immunity through exhaling-inhaling can be achieved through daily practice of yoga and meditation. Meditation is relaxation and rejuvenates the body and mind. With this aim in mind, a skill development training was organised on the 17-06-2021to 19-06-2021, for the NCC Cadets of the college. The yoga instructor, Mr. Giriyappa, took yoga session with great dedication. The cadets participated with full interest, enthusiasm and eagerness.
The session began by seeking the blessings of the Almighty by chanting the Gayatri Mantra.Asanas starting with warming up and stretching were followed by a series of Padmasanas, Sukhasan, Tadasana, BhujangAsana and ending with Shavasana. Exercises for relieving stress, reducing joint pain and enhancing the flexibility of the back were also done for the benefit of the cadets.
