Webinar on Cyber Hygiene

The Indian government has launched programs like Cyber Surakhsit Bharat, Cyber Jagrookta Divas (CJD), Cyber Suraksha Kendra, etc. to support the development and expansion of the nation's cybersecurity infrastructure. Department of Computer Science, St Philomena College Puttur, in association with the IT Club of the College observed Cyber Jagrookta Divas on 06-10-2022 from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm. On this occasion, a Webinar on Cyber Hygiene was organized. Ms. Pranitha K S, Product Security Engineer, SAP Labs Bangalore was the resource person. When addressing the students, she said " Cyber hygiene best practices assist safeguard the health of your digital assets, just as you have personal hygiene practices to keep yourself healthy”. In her session, she explained the dos and do nots to protect personal data, and how we become easy victims of cyber criminals by keeping unsafe passwords. She also explained various initiatives taken up by the Govt of India in order to create awareness on cybercrimes. She also explained the skillsets required for an individual to be an ethical hacker and cybercrime investigation officer.

“If our alumni share their knowledge, experience, and expertise with the current students, the bond between institution and alumni becomes stronger” said Rev Dr. Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal, St Philomena College, in his presidential remarks. Mr. Vinayachandra, HoD Computer Science welcomed and introduced the guest, Mrs. Rajeshwari M, Convener, IT Club, St Philomena College proposed a vote of thanks, and the webinar was compered by Mrs. Geetha Poornima K. 168 students of I Year BCA participated in the Webinar.
