St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

Youth Red Cross Society of St Philomena college organized inauguration and orientation program for the volunteers of Youth Red Cross Society at Spandana seminar hall.
As a mark of respect to the founder of Youth Red Cross Society Jean Henry Dunant, the guest Dr Malini K, along with the President of the program, conveners of Youth Red Cross Society and the student representatives offered floral tribute on this occasion.
This program was presided over by Prof. Ganesh Bhat Vice Principal of the college. In his presidential remarks he said “Youth Redcross Movement is the brainchild of great visionary Jean Henry Dunant. He has been awarded with the First Nobel Peace Prize in the year 1901 for his conviction, commitment and hard work. His life with pledge to social service is always a beacon of light for the generations to come”.
Nancy Lavina Pinto, Dept of Social Work participated as resource person and elaborated the history of Youth Red Cross and the foundation laid by Jean Henry Dunant for the development of Red Cross Society. Dr Dimple Fernandes, the coordinator welcomed, Nilesh Joy Dias, Dept of Commerce proposed vote of thanks. Nuthana compered the program.
