St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

Alumni from the 1984-86 Pre-Degree and 1986-89 B. Com batches of St Philomena College (Autonomous) joyfully reunited after nearly three-and-a-half decades at the PG Seminar Hall of the College. Presiding over the event, Vice Principal Dr Vijay Kumar Moleyar urged alumni to maintain strong ties with their alma mater, emphasizing, “Never forget the college that shaped you.”
The program honoured retired professors instrumental in their careers: Prof. S.I. Bhat, Prof. Hari Narayan Madhvu, Prof. K. Vasanti Sitaram Gowda, Prof. Janardhan Herle, and Prof. Vishnu Bhat, recognizing their invaluable contributions.
Organized under the leadership of alumni Colonel Manoj Kumar R., B.S. Bhat, Ismail M., M.S. Krishnayya, Anant Narayan B., Meera Jagdish, Mohan Das Rai, Ronald Pinto, and others, the event also felicitated Vice Principal Dr Vijay Kumar Moleyar. Alumni Association Secretary Tejaswi Bhat and Mr Vipin Naik ,Deputy Registrar (Academics) attended.
Sharing cherished student memories, 62 alumni participated, making the reunion a nostalgic celebration of enduring bonds and gratitude.
