A Seminar on ‘Thin Films: Driving Today’s Technolog'

The Department of Science at St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, hosted an enlightening seminar titled “Thin Films: Driving Today’s Technology,” focusing on the cutting-edge advancements and applications of thin film technology in contemporary science and industry.

The event was presided over by Dr Vijaya Kumar Moleyar, Vice-Principal of the college. The keynote address was delivered by Dr Manjunatha Pattabi, renowned retired professor from the Department of Materials Science, Mangalore University, Konaje. In his address, Dr Pattabi provided an in-depth overview of thin film technology, tracing its scientific evolution and underscoring its critical role in driving modern innovations ,from electronics to solar energy.

The seminar was organized under the able leadership of Dr Malini K, Dean of Science and Head of the Department of Chemistry, who coordinated the event with the active support of the faculty members of the Science stream.

The program commenced with an invocation by Manasa and her group. Shreedevi, President of the Science Forum, welcomed. Dr Chandrashekar K, Head of the Department of Physics, introduced the distinguished guests and elaborated on their significant contributions to the field of Material Science. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ashlesh, Secretary of the Science Forum.

With around 60 students in attendance, the seminar served as a valuable platform to ignite scientific curiosity and promote academic engagement among young learners. The Department of Science expressed its sincere appreciation to all participants, whose involvement ensured the success of the program.
