St Philomena College(Autonomous) was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.

An Orientation Programme on Field Work Practicum

Puttur, December 8 :Post-Graduate Department of Social Work, St Philomena College Puttur, organised an Orientation Programme on Field Work Practicum for MSW students on 8th December 2022 at St Philomena College, Puttur.

Mr Jeevan, Programme Coordinator, Bharathiya Vikasa Trust, Manipal, was the resource person. He deliberated the importance of concurrent field work and how students can enhance their skills and competencies through practice-based learning. He said that understanding human behaviour and developing a professional attitude is a need of the Profession. Fieldwork is an integral component of Social Work education and is an opportunity for a practice to get real-world experience. I MSW students participated in the programme.
