St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

St Philomena College (Autonomous) recently hosted a celebration of National Entrepreneurship Day alongside a comprehensive workshop on ‘Financial Literacy for Innovation and Entrepreneurship’. The event, organized by the Department of Business Administration, aimed to foster a spirit of entrepreneurship and equip students with crucial financial management skills.
Presiding over the occasion was Dr Vijay Kumar Molyer, Vice Principal of the college, who welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of nurturing entrepreneurial skills in today’s economy.
The workshop featured Mr Arjun Prakash, a Trainer at HSBC Mutual Fund, as the resource person. He delivered an insightful and engaging session covering key topics such as financial literacy, investment awareness, prudent saving habits, and the critical role entrepreneurship plays in driving economic growth. His practical knowledge and advice helped students understand the significance of informed financial decisions and effective money management.
Adding to the program, Dr Radhakrishna Gowda V, Dean of the Department, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the urgent need for financial education among young people to build a financially savvy generation.
The event was coordinated by Mrs Pushpa N, Convenor of the Management Association. Faculty members including Mr Prashanth Rai, Mr Abhishek Suvarna, Ms Shruthi M.S., and Ms Sinchana K.N. actively participated and supported the students.
Student involvement was high, with participants gaining valuable insights into mutual funds, financial planning strategies, and entrepreneurial skillsets that will aid them in real-world financial endeavours.
The program was compered by Mr Prashanth Rai, who welcomed the audience and introduced the dignitaries. The concluding Vote of Thanks was delivered by Muhammad Afnaan, a third-year BBA student, bringing the event to a successful close.
