St Philomena College(Autonomous) was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

The Training and Placement Cell of St. Philomena College, Puttur, in collaboration with ICICI Bank, organized a campus recruitment program for the position of Relationship Manager at ICICI Bank. The event took place at the Seminar Hall of of the College. The inaugural session was presided over by the College Principal, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, who addressed the candidates, saying, “The best investment you can make is in yourself. The way you train yourself to handle situations, behave, present yourself, and highlight your skills will take you to greater heights. Everyone aspires to be placed in a company that offers an attractive salary package. However, candidates should not measure their job only in terms of salary. We need to introspect on how useful we are to the company that employs us. We must dedicate ourselves to work and be able to perform at the level our employers expect. Our success does not depend on our take-home pay but on how useful we are to society.” Sandeep Kumar of TVS Services, the chief guest, spoke about the responsibilities of the Relationship Manager position.
The College Placement Officer, Dr Radhakrishna Gowda, extended a warm welcome. Lt Johnson David Sequeira, a member of the placement cell, expressed gratitude, and Mrs Geethapoornima compèred. Thirty candidates participated in the recruitment process.
