Capacity Building Workshop on Design Thinking

The Department of Business Administration at St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council, organised a capacity-building workshop on Design Thinking, Critical Thinking and Innovation Design at the PG Seminar Hall of the college on Thursday.

The programme featured Advocate Ashwin L. Shetty, Administrator of Vidyarashmi Group of Educational Institutions, Puttur as the resource person. Addressing the gathering, he elaborated on the various dimensions of design thinking and underlined the importance of observing nature with sensitivity and transforming ideas into meaningful action. He emphasised that while artificial intelligence continues to evolve, human potential and authentic capabilities can surpass it when guided by knowledge and creativity. He further highlighted the need to shape one’s personality through continuous learning and intellectual growth.

Presiding over the event, the Principal of the college, Rev. Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, advised students to build their careers step by step. “We often think about grand achievements, but they are realised only by reaching smaller goals consistently,” he said. He noted that the stature of an institution is fundamentally built on discipline, hard work and exemplary conduct. Encouraging students to nurture responsible citizenship, he urged them to learn even the smallest lessons with dedication, stating that true excellence emerges from attention to detail.

Dr Radhakrishna Gowda, Dean and Head of the Department of Business Administration, was present on the occasion. The programme was coordinated by Prashanth Rai, with Pushpa N serving as facilitator. Faculty members Abhishek Suvarna, Shruti and Sinchana, along with Dr Bharathi S Rai, Public Relations Officer were also in attendance.
