St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

Staff Development and Appraisal Cell, Department of Computer Science and Institution’ s Innovation Council of St Philomena College, Puttur jointly organized a Faculty Development Programme to celebrate the National Technology Day in view of training the faculty of St Philomena College, Puttur on ONLINE TOOLS TO SIMPLIFY TEACHING - LEARNING PROCESS at Computer Science Laboratory on 13 May 2023.
The principal of the College Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, participated as chief guest on the occasion said that,” Technology has greater role to play in the lives of humans while performing day today activities. It is because of technology, life is easier. To commemorate the contributions of technology to the modern sophisticated world, National Technology Day is observed. When teaching and learning is incorporated with technology, the former will be effective beyond imagination”.
Vinaya Chandra, Dean of Department of Computer Science presented a demonstration on “Search Chatbot and Paraphrasing”. Rajeshwari K, Geetha Poornima and Varija k, Assistant Professors of Department of Computer science presented demonstrations on teaching related Google developed technology, proper usage of Google forms and use of Google Classrooms for various activities respectively.
Staff Development and Appraisal Cell convener Rev. Fr Stany Pinto welcomed. Vice Principal Dr AP Radhakrishna proposed vote of thanks. Sowmya, Department of Computer Science compered the programme. Certificates were issued to all the beneficiaries.
