St Philomena College(Autonomous) was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.
The Quality Assurance Framework of the institution has been developed to assure academic standards and enhance the quality of education. It underlines the institution’s commitment to excellence and improvement.

Yakshakalakendra of St Philomena College in association with IQAC celebrated World Theatre Day on 27 March 2023 at Spandana Seminar Hall of the College. The resource person of the program Vice principal Dr. A P Radhakrishna shared his nostalgic memories of his childhood days as an enthusiastic onlooker of theatre art and Yakshagana had a great influence on him to be transformed as a lover of Theatrical Art. President of the program Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monterio, Principal of the College shared his thoughts from the seat of president on how Art masters the power of discipline and thereby playing an important role in sustaining the value of Art through generations of Human existence and motivated the students to involve deeply in the said Art and perform well even in academics too. The coordinator of Yakshakalakendra, Prashanth Rai,Asst professor ,Department of Business Management welcomed the dignitaries and presented vote of thanks . Samrudhi Shenoy of II B.C.A. presented a Rangageethe at the conclusion of the programme. Sudhanva Shyam of III B.Sc. compered, Abhijna and Hithashree rendered prayer. Members of Performing Arts graced the occasion with their presence.
