St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

The Department of Chemistry of the college organised the valedictory ceremony of the Certificate Course on Pharmaceutical Chemistry on M0nday, marking the successful completion of the programme aimed at enhancing students’ knowledge and skills in pharmaceutical chemistry.
Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of the college, presided over the function and addressed the gathering. In his speech, he highlighted the importance of industry-oriented learning and practical exposure in shaping the careers of students in the field of science and healthcare.
Ms Jenisha shared her reflections on the certificate course and spoke about the learning experience gained through the programme. Certificates were later distributed to the students who successfully completed the course.
Mr Shivaprasad, Assistant Professor in Chemistry, actively participated in the programme.
Dr. Edwin S. D’Souza, Course Coordinator, welcomed . The prayer was led by Ms. Aparna and team, while Dr Malini K., Dean of Science, delivered the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by student Shreevidya.
