St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, came alive with festive cheer as it celebrated Christmas with grandeur, joy, and a message of love and harmony.
Dr Radhakrishna Gowda, Dean of the Department of Business Administration, delivered the Christmas message, emphasizing the universal values embodied by Jesus Christ. In his inspiring address, he spoke about the virtues of love, peace, and compassion, which transcend barriers of faith and continue to inspire humanity. He highlighted how these values remain relevant in fostering unity and goodwill among people.
The chief guest, Mr Shreehari P., Chief Manager of Karnataka Bank, Puttur Cluster, extended his warm wishes for the season. He said, “May this Christmas bring health, happiness, peace, and prosperity to all, and may Santa Claus fill our lives with joy and blessings.”
The event was presided over by Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of the college, who extended his heartfelt wishes for a joyous Christmas and a prosperous New Year. He remarked that the Christmas party is a celebration of togetherness and the true spirit of the festival.
The program featured carol singing, the essence of Christmas. Faculty, students, and staff actively participated, creating an atmosphere of unity and festive spirit.
Dr Vijaya Kumar Moleyar, Vice Principal of the college, and Mr Vinayachandra, Registrar (Evaluation), were also present on the dais. Mr Shreesha Bhat of Karnataka Bank graced the occasion.
Mrs Varija and her team rendered a soulful prayer. Dr Norbert Mascarenhas, Registrar (Academics), welcomed. Mr Prashanth Rai, and Mrs Mariet Sherly Vas proposed a vote of thanks,
