St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, celebrated the 77th Republic Day with patriotism and solemnity on its campus.
The programme commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by the Principal, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro. Addressing the gathering, he called upon students and staff to uphold and respect the values enshrined in the Constitution and to safeguard the spirit of democracy. He emphasised that discipline and hard work are the collective responsibilities of every citizen and are essential for the progress of the nation.
Rev. Fr. Ashok Ryan, Principal of St Philomena Pre-University College, was present on the occasion. NCC cadets took part in the celebrations, adding dignity and ceremonial discipline to the event.
The programme was attended by the Vice-Principal, heads of departments, faculty members and staff, who joined in commemorating the significance of Republic Day and reaffirming their commitment to national values.
