College observed Anti-Terrorism Day

St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, observed Anti-Terrorism Day with solemnity and purpose, highlighting the vital role of educational institutions in shaping socially responsible citizens and reaffirming the commitment of the College towards national integration and peace-building. The programme was organised under the joint auspices of the Students’ Council and the Fine Arts Association at the Spandana Auditorium on Wednesday.

Presiding over the event, the Principal, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, emphasized the day’s critical relevance in fostering peace, order, and harmony within society. Addressing the gathering, he stated, “The objective of observing Anti-Terrorism Day is to instil values of non-violence and communal harmony. Students must refrain from supporting violent activities and instead focus on contributing to the nation’s progress. Cruelty recognizes neither caste nor religion. Only when our consciousness is awakened through reason can terrorism be eradicated.”

Dr Monteiro further added significance to the observance by administering the Anti-Terrorism Pledge, urging students to uphold the ideals of unity and peace, thereby rendering the occasion meaningful and impactful.

Dr Vijay Kumar Moleyar, Vice Principal of the College, who lent his esteemed presence to the proceedings. Dr Radhakrishna Gowda, Student Welfare Officer, extended a warm welcome, The event was compered by Mr Prashanth Rai, Director of the  Yakshakalakendra.
