St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.
The Quality Assurance Framework of the institution has been developed to assure academic standards and enhance the quality of education. It underlines the institution’s commitment to excellence and improvement.

St Philomena Autonomous College Observed National Voters’ Day today in the PG Seminar Hall. The Principal, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, administered the voter’s pledge to all participants. In his address, he emphasized, “A conscious citizen must have a sense of responsibility towards the nation and society. Voting is a fundamental duty, yet it is disheartening that even educated individuals are becoming apathetic towards this responsibility. Genuine interest in national progress, similar to enthusiasm for religious matters, is the need of the hour. We must reflect on our duties and elect deserving representatives without yielding to any temptations.”
The event began with an invocation by Assistant Professor of the Postgraduate Commerce Department, Ms. Sriraga. Dr Vijay Kumar Moleyar, Vice Principal, welcomed and presented introductory remarks. Mr Sheetal Kumar, Assistant Professor, Postgraduate Department Social Work, proposed vote of thanks. Mrs Geethapoornima K., Assistant Professor, Department Computer Science compered.
