St Philomena College(Autonomous) was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

St Philomena College observed Sadbhavana Day today in a solemn ceremony in memory of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his birth anniversary. The event was organized under the aegis of the National Service Scheme (NSS) of the college, with Dr Chandrasekhar K, the NSS Program Officer, highlighting the significance of the occasion.
Sadbhavana Day, a Day of Goodwill and harmony, was observed with an oath-taking ceremony led by the Principal, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro. In his address, Dr Monteiro emphasized the importance of fostering unity and peace in society.
In a special segment of the event, students who excelled in the state-level weightlifting competition held in Mysore were honoured.
Student Welfare Officers, Dr Radhakrishna Gowda welcomed and Mrs Spearl Fiona Pereira proposed a vote of thanks. Mr Elias Pinto, Physical Education Director and Mrs Pushpa N, another NSS Program Officer, was also present on the occasion.
