St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.

Cyber Security Ethical Hacking and Cyber Security as a Career

Department of Computer Science organized a workshop on “Cyber Security, Ethical Hacking and Cyber Security as a Career” on 19-06-2021. Mr.SamiranSantra, CEO, Data space Securities Pvt Ltd was the resource person. He enlightened students on different types of cybercrimes, how safe our account on social media is, how to protect our personal data on the Internet, etc. “Cyber security has opened up a new horizon of jobs these days. Because of digitalization people and institutions need to deal with a huge amount of data. Providing security to data has become a major concern. Cyber security is a field where there is a lot of growth to a person who opts it as a career” he said.  He also demonstrated how an E-mail account and a smart phone can be easily hacked to capture personal information. Mrs. Sowmya, Assistant Professor, Dept of Computer Science welcomed and introduced the resource person, Mr.Vinayachandra, HOD Computer Science, proposed a vote of thanks. The programme was compared by Mrs. Rajeshwari M., Assistant Professor, and Dept of Computer Science. 250 students of BCA attended the webinar.
