St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.
The Quality Assurance Framework of the institution has been developed to assure academic standards and enhance the quality of education. It underlines the institution’s commitment to excellence and improvement.

PG Department of commerce, St Philomena College Puttur organized a national level Commerce and Management Fest and Paper Presentation `DECENNIO - 2022’ on 17th August 2022 in the college auditorium.
The programme started with a prayer recited by Sumadhura and team followed with the welcome speech by Mr Yashavantha G. Nayak, Coordinator of the PG department of commerce. CA. M. Jaganath Kamath was the inaugurator of this programme. The president of this programme, Dr. Antony Prakash Monteiro, The Principal of the college, the chief guest Rev. Fr Rithesh Rodrigues, Parish Priest, St Thomas the Apostle Church, Kollangana, Kasaragod and the Guest of Honour Rev. Fr Stany Pinto, the Campus Director of the College were present in the programme.
In his speech CA M. Jagannath Kamath motivated the students by saying the lessons of competitions are the lessons for life. Chief Guest Rev. Fr Rithesh Rodrigues addressed and motivated the students by saying never give up in the competitions.The guest of honour Rev. Fr Stany Pinto said participating is more important than winning prizes.
In his presidential speech, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro said that winning prizes are not important, but at the end one should be a good human being. Competitions also develop students’ confidence and morale.
The programme was concluded by Ms Basil with vote of thanks. The valedictory programme was held in the evening. Rev. Dr Antony PrakashMonteiro as the President, Mr JayanathNadubail, Proprietor of Akshaya Farms, Puttur as the Chief Guest and Dr Herbert Nazareth as the Guest of Honour, were present in the programme. The Programme was ended by distributing the prizes.
