St Philomena College(Autonomous) was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

In order to develop genuine interest in the subject, The Department of Chemistry of St Philomena College in association with IQAC organized an Intra departmental activity ‘Chemmingle’. Ms. Netravati, research scholar at NITK, Suratkal, participated as resource person. Dr. Krishna Kumar P S, the HOD of Department of Chemistry introduced the resource person to the audience. Various competitions were held in connection with’ Chemmingle’ and prizes were distributed to the winners during the programme.
The resource person Ms Netravati expressed her gratitude towards the college for inviting her for the function and said that hard work and determination of an individual always pay the best interest in the future which is yet to be explored.
Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of the college presided over the function and advised the students to move in their career choosing the passionate path rather than moving with the trend and suggested the students to develop scientific temper among them.
Rev. Fr Stany Pinto, campus director of the college, graced the occasion with his presence.
Dheeraj M ,3rd rank holder in BSc in 2022 was felicitated on the occasion. He motivated the students on how to reach the desired goal citing his own experiences.
Ms Netravati spoke on Advanced Materials in Chemical Sciences – Current Trends and Applications followed by an interaction session with the students.
Dr Malini. K, Associate professor, welcomed and proposed vote of thanks. Thanvi M Rai III B.Sc. and team invoked the blessings of God. Dr Edwin D’Souza, Associate professor, compered. The students Department of Chemistry actively participated in the programme. Programme concluded with a short cultural programme by Nayana III B.Sc. and team.
