St Philomena College(Autonomous) was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

Puttur, December 10: Department of Computer Science, St Philomena College Puttur in association with Pinnacle IT Club and Institution’s Innovation Council organized a Workshop on Internet of Things. Inauguration of the workshop was organized in the Computer Laboratory of the College. Prof. Ganesh Bhat K, Vice-Principal was the president of the inaugural programme. In his presidential remarks, he said “Alumni are an integral part of any institution. When they share their practical knowledge with the present students, the industry-academia gap can be narrowed down.”. Gavin Chris Mascarenhas, Data Analyst, Tata Consultancy Services said “Skilled IoT professionals are needed in Data Analytics. IoT career aspirants who are eager to learn new things have a bright future ahead of them. For individuals with unique creative ideas, this is the greatest venue. The new applications and technology are simple to explore and easy to learn.”.
Karthik and rendered prayer, Mr Vinaya Chandra, HoD Computer Science welcomed the guests, Johnviston Titas Dias, President of IT Club proposed vote of thanks, and the program was compered by Likhitha A J.
50 students were divided into teams containing 2 or 3 members each and were trained in” How to develop models using Arduino board and different types of sensors”. Gavin, Jagannivasa B, Ranjan Nayak, and Naveen guided the students to develop IoT models.
