St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.

Educational Tour by MSW

The Post Graduate Department of Social Work, St Philomena College, Puttur organized a three-day Educational Tour for II-year MSW Students. Students visited industries, renowned hospitals and reputed NGOs in and around Mysore from 23 January 2023 to 26 January 2023.

The students explored Swamy Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM), Mysore; Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology, Mysore; Mysore Medical College and Hospital, Krishnarajendra Hospital, Mysore; Atlantic Apparels Gokuldas Exports, Belwadi, Mysore, and Jubilant Pharmova limited, Nanjangud, Karnataka.

The Educational Visits of this nature help the students to expand their world view, gain valuable insights into enhancing their knowledge and increasing their experiences with an opportunity to visualize, experience and discuss which in turn instills professional competence including a greater bond between the teachers and students. Under the guidance of the Principal of the College Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Mrs Srimani, Coordinator of the Department and Mr Sheethal Kumar, Assistant Professor, Deparmentt of MSW conducted the Study Tour.
