St Philomena College(Autonomous) was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

“Success is certain if employees work together towards the development and prosperity of the organization. Change is the rule of the world. If every individual responds positively to change, miracles can be created. With self-confidence, we will only think of good things. We should learn to appreciate ourselves and not push ourselves down for any reason. Think positively. If we work as a team, we can achieve the impossible,” said principal of the college Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro. He shared these insights while chairing a one-day faculty development program under the auspices of the Staff Development and Appraisal Cell of St Philomena College on ‘Navigating the Transition: From an Affiliated College to an Autonomous Institution.’

Fr Lawrence Mascarenes, the encouragement from the Alumni Association, the Parent-Teachers’ Association, and the efficiency of the concerned staff are commendable,” he stated.
