St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.

Farewell programme for 4th semester MSc students

On 25th April,2014 the students of first MSc physics of St. Philomena college, Centre for PG studies and Research, Puttur had organised farewell function for the second year MSc Physics students.

The President for the day was Prof. Leo Noronha, the Principal of St. Philomena College. Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Campus Director and Chair Person of PG Studies was the chief guest. Dr A.P. Radhakrishna H.O.D of Physics, St.Philomena College and Dr E. Deepak D’Silva, Coordinator of MSc Physics and Faculty members of the Department were also present on the occasion.

Prof. Leo Noronha, Principal of the college in his presidential remark said, “The students should remember five most important things in their life namely; Parents, Teachers, Friends, Institution and the Nation”. He wished a successful career and fruitful future for the students.

Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro in his address said that, “students should be grateful to the institution in which they get education, and should spread good words in the society about the institution”.

Dr A P Radhakrishna, H.O.D. of Physics, St. Philomena College insisted that, “students should make good use of every opportunity they get in life to excel in their career and they should aware of the progress which takes place in their field around the globe”.

Dr E. Deepak D’Silva in his address opined that, in this fast world updated knowledge is essential and can be gained by one’s own effort without any shortcut. He desired that his students should be humble, honest, hardworking and sensible for the situations and wished a better future for them.

The programme started sharp at 10.00 AM with the prayer by Ms. Prathibha of I MSc Physics followed by the Welcome address by Ms. Aradhana of I MSc Physics. Mr. Supreeth and Ms. Ashwitha of II MSc Physics pondered their memories of two year college life. Ms. Ashwini of I MSc Physics Proposed vote of thanks. Ms. Asheeda of I MSc Physics was the master of ceremony.

Soon after formal function various games and competition were organised by the junior students to entertain the seniors.
