St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.
The Quality Assurance Framework of the institution has been developed to assure academic standards and enhance the quality of education. It underlines the institution’s commitment to excellence and improvement.

In a heartfelt ceremony held at the Spandana Seminar Hall of St Philomena College, the administrative staff came together to felicitate Administrative Office Head of St Philomena College Mr John Monteiro, who is retiring from his dedicated service after an impressive 38-year tenure. The event was presided over by the Correspondent of the College Very Rev. Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, who extended warm wishes to Mr Monteiro for a fulfilling retired life and commended his unwavering dedication to the college over the years.
Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, the college principal, took the opportunity to applaud Mr John Monteiro’s commitment to his profession throughout his long and illustrious career. Dr P S Krishna Kumar and Dr Vijayakumar Moleyar, the Vice Principals of the college, fondly reminisced about the cherished memories they shared with Mr Monteiro, spanning from their childhood to school life and their joint professional journey.
SDA Rufina Dsouza delivered a heartfelt felicitation speech, expressing gratitude for Mr Monteiro’s invaluable contributions. Mr Monteiro, in turn, seized the moment to express his heartfelt thanks to the Management, principals, faculty members, and students for their unwavering support and cooperation throughout his career. Mr Robert Monteiro retired administrative office assistant and Public Relation Officer Bharathi S Rai were present on the occasion.
The prayers were led by SDA Mrs Leena Mendonca and SDA Ms Vandita,on the occasion. SDA Mrs Shirly D’souza extended a warm welcome to all. and SDA Mrs Zeeta Noronha proposed the vote of thanks. The ceremony was compered by SDA Mr Sudeep Vas.
The college community wishes Mr John Monteiro a well-deserved and fulfilling retirement.
