St Philomena College(Autonomous) was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

St. Philomena (Autonomous) College organized a felicitation ceremony at the Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall on Saturday to honour rank holders, retired faculty members, and outstanding athletes. The event was hosted by the Student Council with the objective of celebrating academic and athletic excellence while acknowledging the contributions of former educators.
Former Principal Prof. Leo Noronha, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, emphasized the significance of integrity, stating, “Being an honest individual is truly a noble virtue. Integrity is a fundamental value that profoundly impacts our lives and the lives of those around us.”
Very Rev. Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, the Correspondent of the institution, presided over the ceremony. Encouraging students to utilize their time wisely, he remarked, “To achieve our goals, we must manage time effectively, harness our talents intelligently, and seize every opportunity to make a positive impact in the world.”
The Principal, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, delivered the introductory address, highlighting the commitment of the institution to academic excellence and holistic development.
The event witnessed the felicitation of Dr. P. S. Krishna Kumar, former Vice-Principal, for his invaluable contributions to the institution. Dr Edwin D’Souza, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, read the felicitation note honouring him.
The college also recognized rank holders for their exceptional academic achievements. The students honoured were: Sudhanva Sham, Ritesh Rai, Arpita, Reena A.V., Sitara Sherin, Sushanth K.M., Chandraksha and Hashini Singh.
The outstanding athletes who brought laurels to the institution were also felicitated. The honoured sportspersons included: Spandana, Beula, Ranjith Kumar, Chaithrika, Yashwin, Mohammed Muhad, Prithvi, Shabarish Rai, and Varsha.
The list of rank holders was read out by Assistant Professors Vasudev N., Dr. Malini K., Premalatha K., Dr. Vinay Chandra, Harshith R., and Srimani, while the achievements of the athletes were highlighted by Dr. Elias Pinto, Director of Physical Education.
The Correspondent, Very Rev. Fr. Lawrence Mascarenhas, honoured the elect office bearers of the Student Council Mr Heckson Fernandes, IIIBCA, Ms Fathimath Athoofa IIIBCA and Ms Simran Taj IIIB.Com during the event.
The ceremony commenced with an invocation by the Performing Arts students, while Dr. Radhakrishna Gowda V., Head of the BBA Department and Student Welfare Officer, welcomed the gathering. Mrs Spearl Fiona Pereira, Student Welfare Officer, proposed the vote of thanks. The event was compered by Mr Prashanth Rai, Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Administration.
