Felicitation to Prof. Subair on Superannuation

Prof. Subair, who dedicated 36 years of his career to the History Department of St Philomena College, puttur was recently honoured at the PG Seminar Hall of the College. Very Rev. Fr Lawrence Mascarenes, Correspondent of the College, presided over the felicitation programme and spoke emphasizing that teaching is not merely a profession; it embodies patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for both students and the institution.

Prof. Subair exemplifies an unwavering commitment to excellence and has been a beloved lecturer throughout his long and illustrious career. Retirement, he noted, offers the chance for self-learning, self-care, and contributing positively to society and wished Prof. Subair a fulfilling life ahead.

Dr. Antony Prakash Montero, the principal, commended Prof. Subair for not only imparting historical knowledge but also instilling a passion for history in his students. He stressed that Prof. Subair promoted holistic student development, viewing history studies as more than just academic progress. Beyond textbooks and lectures, Prof. Subair acted as a mentor to countless students, ensuring that they grasped not only the subject matter but also valuable life lessons. Dr Montero extended his best wishes to Prof. Subair and acknowledged his successful handling of additional responsibilities.

On this special occasion, Campus Director Rev. Fr Stany Pinto lauded the service extended by Prof. Subair and expressed his well-wishes, hoping for him to enjoy a healthy and peaceful retirement.

In his address, Prof. Subair expressed profound gratitude to his colleagues, students, friends, and family, all of whom have been an integral part of his remarkable 36-year journey at St Philomena College. He acknowledged the faculty who played a significant role in shaping his life and the former Principals and Correspondents who provided him the opportunity to begin his teaching career at the college. Prof. Subair noted his contentment in effectively fulfilling various responsibilities associated with his teaching career, and he reflected about the unforgettable days spent at the college.

The event was graced by the presence of Vice Principals Dr AP Radhakrishna and Prof. Ganesh Bhat.

During the proceedings, Suraksha and team led the prayer, and Dr Dimple Jennifer Fernandes, President of the Staff Association, extended a warm welcome. Dr Norbert Mascarenes, the Dean of Arts delivered the felicitation address, while Dr Malini, Department of Chemistry, read the Citation letter. Basthyam Pais, Secretary of the Staff Association, proposed vote of thanks, and Dr Edwin D’Souza, Department of Chemistry, compered the programme.
