About Us

St Philomena College(Autonomous) was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.

Gold Medal Award to Dheeraj M

Dheeraj M of St Philomena College, Puttur has been awarded Prof. Krishnamoorthy Gold Medal on securing 1197/1200 marks in Mathematics in the Mangalore University Examinations conducted in 2021- 22. He is the University Topper in B.Sc. Mathematics. This prestigious Institution Award has been founded by MGM College Udupi. On the occasion of 74th Annual Day Celebration of the College held on 25 May, 2023 Dheeraj was honored by Dr H. S. Ballal, President,The Academy of General Education ,Manipal ,  Chief Guest Avinash Shetty ,Medical Superintendent, KMC,Manipal and Prof Laxminarayana Karanth, Principal MGM College, Udupi.

Dheeraj is the III rank holder in the B.Sc. Examination conducted by the Mangalore University. Currently he is pursuing M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry.  As a St Philomenite Dheeraj.M has carried out a Summer Research Project as an Inspire -SHE Scholar at CSIR Lucknow,Uttarpradesh and also a Literature Project as an IAS- Summer Research Fellow at Department of Chemistry , IIT Bombay.

Principal of St Philomena College Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro congratulated him on his achievements and wished him many more laurels on his pursuit of knowledge.
