St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.

I prize - National Level Craft Competition

Shreya K H of I M.Sc. Physics, Post graduate Centre for Research St Philomena College, Puttur won Ist prize in National Level Craft Competition ‘Shilp Aakaar’ conducted by Nav Shri Art and Culture Organisation, New Delhi recently. The award ceremony was held at Artizen Art Gallery, New Delhi, India. She also participated in the '8th Art and Art National Level Exhibition' and her craft was featured in the Group Show of 'Drawing, Painting, Art, and Craft' held at Artizen Art Gallery.
