St Philomena College(Autonomous) was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

Under the theme “Youth for Digital Literacy – Youth for My Bharat,” the annual NSS special camp of St. Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, for the academic year 2024-25 commenced today at S.H.P. School, Anadka in Puttur Taluk. The week-long camp will run from February 20 to February 26, 2025.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by progressive farmer and founding president of S.H.P. School, Anadka, Shri Ratnakar Varambalittaya, who ceremoniously lit the lamp to mark the event's commencement. Expressing his deep admiration for the college and its initiatives, he remarked, “This camp provides an excellent opportunity for students to build trust and camaraderie with the local community.”
Presiding over the function, Dr. Vijayakumar M., Vice-Principal of St. Philomena College, underscored the transformative impact of NSS, stating, “NSS is not just about service—it teaches the art of living and the essence of co-existence.” He extended his best wishes to all the student volunteers participating in the camp.
Narimogaru Gram Panchayat Member, Shri Dinesh Gowda Majalu, addressed the gathering and motivated the students. Progressive farmer and philanthropist Shri Balakrishna Nayak Majalu extended his full support to the initiative, assuring the volunteers of his assistance throughout the camp.
Several dignitaries were present on the occasion, including Shri Narayan Suvarna, President of the School Development Committee; Smt. Felicita D’Cunha, Headmistress of S.H.P. School, Anadka; Shri Narnappa Salyan, Traditional Medicine Practitioner and President of the Alumni Association of the school; and Smt. Bharati S. Rai, Public Relations Officer of St. Philomena College. Faculty members Dr. Radhakrishna Gowda V. Dean of Department of Business Administration and Mr Vinil Rohan D’Souza,Department of English along with Assistant Camp Officer Mr Harshith were also in attendance.
The program began with an invocation by students Archana and her team. Dr Chandrashekar K., Camp Officer, delivered the welcome address, while Mrs Pushpa N. proposed the vote of thanks. The camp unit leader, Kavya H. Rao, compered the event and volunteers Niranjan, Uma, and Keerthi coordinated various aspects of the program.
