Department of Computer Science inaugurated the activities of the Pinnacle IT Club for the academic year 2023-24 on 21 September 2023 at the SJM Hall of the College.

The thought-provoking presidential address by the Principal Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, who shed light on the concerning impact of digital technology on the mental health of today’s youth also emphasized the critical need for providing mental health first aid to counteract the adverse effects of digital technology. He urged students to maintain an optimistic outlook and avoid falling into the trap of technology.

Furthermore, Dr Monteiro underscored the essential role of the Pinnacle IT Club in nurturing leadership skills and fostering creativity among students. The activities of the club are designed to help students hone their skills and cultivate innovation in a constructive manner. He elaborated that active participation in the Pinnacle IT Club’s activities equips students with valuable experience, enabling them to harness technology for positive purposes.

Chief guest, Rev. Fr Stany Pinto, Campus Director, addressed the gathering, expressing concern about the increasingly active engagement of students on social media platforms. He cautioned against the rapid virality of seemingly insignificant matters and stressed the importance of vigilance.  He lauded the Pinnacle IT Club for providing a conducive platform for responsible digital engagement.

Rovina and her team rendered prayer. Abhishek Kamath, President of Pinnacle IT Club extended a warm welcome. Mrs Rajeshwari M, the Convener of the Club, introduced the diverse activities of the Club, apprising the numerous opportunities for students to participate and grow. Aditya Dinesh, Vice President, concluded the event with a vote of thanks. Mr Vinay Chandra, Head of the Department of Computer Science, Farvez Akthar, Secretary of Pinnacle IT Club were graciously present on the dais. The event concluded with honouring first-year B.C.A. students who excelled in the common entrance test conducted after the induction program in the College.
