St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

The Department of Business Administration, St Philomena College, organized an industrial visit for its students on February 25, 2026, to provide practical exposure beyond classroom learning. The visit was arranged in two separate batches.
II BBA Students Visit New Mangalore Port Authority
The II BBA students visited the New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPT), Panambur. During the session, port officials explained the functioning of various departments, cargo handling systems, export-import procedures, and logistics management.
Students gained first-hand knowledge about shipping operations, customs clearance, documentation processes, and the coordination involved in managing large-scale port activities. The visit enabled them to understand the practical aspects of supply chain management and international trade, enriching their academic curriculum.
I BBA and BBA Analytics Students Visit Nandini Dairy, Kulashekara
The I BBA and BBA Analytics students visited Nandini Dairy at Kulashekara. The officials briefed them about milk procurement from cooperative societies, processing methods, quality control measures, packaging techniques, and distribution networks.
Students were shown different sections of the plant, including testing laboratories and packaging units. They learned about hygiene standards, cold storage systems, and the role of technology in maintaining product quality. The visit also provided insights into production management and data-driven decision-making in dairy operations, especially relevant for BBA Analytics students.
The industrial visit proved to be highly informative and beneficial for all the students. It helped bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world business practices. The management and faculty of St Philomena College appreciated the initiative, emphasizing the importance of such experiential learning programs in shaping future business professionals.
