St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

ST Philomena College, St Philomena PU College, St Philomena Aided Highschool,3/19KAR BN NCC ,91/19 KAR BN NCC ,5 KAR NAVAL NCC ,41 /A 5 KAR NAVAL NCC ,44/6 KAR AIR SQN NCC and NSS Units jointly celebrated the 9th International Yoga day at SJM Hall of the College with Yoga demonstrations for a duration of 75 minutes. 150 students from the above said streams have practised Yoga on the serene morning of the day thereby experiencing the devine pleasure derived from the exercise which helps in keeping the mindfulness always at its best.
Rev. Fr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of the College presided over the short formal ceremony and said that mindfulness and meditation positively help in the culmination of body, soul and mind. He also pointed out the importance of understanding the theme of International Yoga Day where the necessity of cleansing the minds which deprive us from the enjoyment of purity of mind and soul hence practice Yoga for joyful living.
Rev. Fr Stany Pinto, Campus Director St Philomena College and Rev. Fr Maxim D’Souza, Head Master St Philomena Highschool participated as the guests of honour.
Lieutenant Johnson Davi Sequeira welcomed. NSS volunteer Zainuddin II B.B.A. proposed vote of thanks. NCC Naval Wing officer of the college Thejaswi Bhat compered the programme. NSS Officer Mrs Pushpa was present on the occasion.
