St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.
The Quality Assurance Framework of the institution has been developed to assure academic standards and enhance the quality of education. It underlines the institution’s commitment to excellence and improvement.

3/ 19 Kar BN National Cadet Corps (NCC) of St Philomena College Puttur celebrated the Victory in ‘Operation Vijay’, (Kargil Vijay Diwas), on 26 July, 2022 held in the PG Seminar Hall. The Kargil Vijay Diwas is the day of pride for the nation in general. It is the day to remember the Martyrs, rejoice their sacrifices and strengthen the resolve of the Armed Forces to the cause of the Nation.
Sgt Sham Prasad Devasya, Retired,Indian Air Force chief guest on this occasion. Sgt Sham Prasad Devasya, in his address enlightened the cadets regarding the value and standard of Indian Military, he also stressed on the righteous cause for the celebration of Kargil Diwas. He also entitled the special entry into Indian Armed Forces as a Agniveer. Rev Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro presided over the programme. IQAC Coordinator of the college were present on the occasion Lt Johnson David Sequeira Coy Commander welcomed the gathering. SUO Kiran proposed vote of thanks. Sgt. Prakyath T J compared the programme. The faculty of the college and the 100 NCC cadets were present for the same.
