St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

In view of the Celebration of National Library Week, a Book Exhibition was organized by Library & Information Centre, St Philomena College Puttur in association with Internal Quality Assurance Cell, from 14 Nov.2022 to 19 Nov.2022 to mark the 55th National Library Week Celebration.
The Principal of the College Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro inaugurated the Book Exhibition Programme and speaking on the occasion said,” Library is an amazing destination for anyone who wants to lead a hassle-free happy life as it is the place which has answer for most of the questions of life hidden in the books compiled in the library. Students need to come out of mobile mania and sneak a peek to the outer world to strengthen the longevity by learning to lead a happy life by improving the knowledge and skill necessary for life “
Dr A.P. Radhakrishna, Vice Principal and Coordinator of Internal Quality Assurance Cell was graciously present on the occasion .The College S.G. Librarian Abdul Rahman G informed that nearly 580 Books on Value Education and Personality Development are displayed in the Exhibition. It will be open for students and staff between 9.00 AM and 4.00 PM.
Members of Library Advisory Committee, faculty members, Library faculty, office bearers of the Student Council and students were present.
