St Philomena College(Autonomous) was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.

M.Sc. Physics: Student bagged First Rank in Mangalore University Examination

Ms Sushmitha K, our proud student (2019-21 Batch) of the Department has secured First Rank in M.Sc Physics University examinations. She has been awarded with Prof. K. Siddappa Gold Medal, Prof. M I Savadatti Cash Prize, International Conference on Recent Advances in Material Science and Bio-Physics 2018 Gold Medal for first rank in M.Sc. Degree examination and Nobel Laurate Sir C.V. Raman Prize, Dr S N Bose Prize, Dr Homi Bhabha Prize, NSRP-7 Prize by the Mangalore University in the annual convocation of the University for securing highest Grade in Condensed Matter Physics Specialization.
